ABOUT US

Women's Football is at an all-time high and there couldn't be a better time to get involved. The University of York Women's Football Club brings together football lovers of all abilities together to play the beautiful game. The First Team, captained by Harriet Chadwick for the 2019/20 season, plays in the BUCS Northern 2B league. The Second Team, captained by Rebecca Leach for the 2019/20 season, plays in the BUCS Northern 4B league. Despite being two teams, UYWAFC is very much one united club.

No matter whether you've played football your entire life, a few years, a few days, or even a few minutes, UYWAFC is the club for you. We welcome players of all levels to trial for the club, with as many as possible players being placed on a team. Training occurs twice a week, with one session being open to non-club members. This allows us to spread our passion for the game and engage our community in the wonderful game of football!

The main BUCS football season is October to December, with most matches being played every Wednesday afternoon. There are also a few games from January to March, however, they mainly occur in the first term. Following the end of the BUCS season, the exciting preparation begins for the Roses Tournament. The battle between the University of York and the University of Lancaster in the War of the Roses is recreated in an inter-university sports competition. Roses 2020 will take place at the University of Lancaster and the club is eager to prove that, once again, #RosesAreWhite!
